A quick Introduction…
Sophie Rose Mandel
I enjoy working with diverse individuals and experiences. I specialize in working with trauma, people who identify as highly sensitive, and juggle with the push and pull of anxiety and depression. I specialize in these experiences not only because of achieving specific certifications but also from personal lived experiences. It is these lived experiences that acted as the driving force to make meaning out of my own suffering and become a therapist not in spite of it but because of (a phrase you will hear me often repeat as it is the core of my philosophy and my own healing journey).
I also often connect with people who are struggling with loved ones who suffer from severe mental health issues. When our loved ones suffer from severe mental illness it affects the fabric of our being through vicarious trauma. I grew up with a loved one who had severe mental illness and I had to learn to navigate the world and myself in a different way. Existentialism helped me to create meaning and understanding from my own experience. Which is how I got here.
Healing is a process. I believe in holistic methods that address the mind, body, and soul are the best way to help us in our life journey. Unfortunately, there is not a one-size-fits-all answer for healing, growth, and change. You are infinitely unique.
My education in existential phenomenology (EP) is a fundamentally relational approach. Our therapeutic relationship is the foundation for your therapeutic experience. My framework in EP has helped me be attuned to your personhood, to never totalize or assume to know and to walk with you on this unique journey of becoming.
My work is trauma informed. I am also trained in IFS, somatic work, polyvagal theory, intersubjective self psychology, and EMDR. I interweave these approaches and techniques based off of what I think will be helpful to you as an individual.
It is an honor to do this work and be a witness, a partner, or a guide in your journey.
